#TodosPeloCentro: what is this city hall program?

Downtown São Paulo has always been the epicenter of urban life in the city, pulsating with history, culture and diversity. However, over the years, the region has faced challenges that have affected its vitality and attractiveness. In response to these issues, the City of São Paulo took action and launched a project. #TodosPeloCentro: what is this city government program?

Check out everything about the program, which is an ambitious initiative aimed at revitalizing and requalifying this important area of the metropolis. Enjoy your reading!

About the program

The #TodosPeloCentro program emerged after the sanction of Law 17.844/2022 , which established the Urban Intervention Area (AIU) of the Central Sector. This legislation was the starting point for the creation of the Intersecretarial Committee that coordinates the program's actions, aiming to coordinate efforts and resources for the requalification of the Center of São Paulo.

This committee, made up of several municipal departments, aims to develop strategies in six priority areas: Attracting Investment, Urban Requalification and Mobility, Housing, Security, Social, and Environment, Leisure and Culture.

One of the main duties of the Intersecretarial Committee is to establish cooperation between the different municipal departments involved, ensuring an integrated and comprehensive approach to the planned interventions in the districts of Bom Retiro, Belém, Pari, Sé, República, Brás and Santa Cecília.

With the Municipal Secretariat of the Civil House leading the committee, other secretariats, such as Housing, Mobility and Traffic, Urban Security, and Environment, among others, are also involved in this joint effort.

Attracting investment and increasing the value of space

The #TodosPeloCentro program aims not only to revitalize the central region, but also to attract investment and residents there. To this end, a series of measures were announced, including tax incentives, simplification of procedures for issuing permits and regulation of urban intervention projects.

The ambitious goal is to attract around 200,000 residents to the Center, giving it new life and dynamism.

In addition to the legislative measures already in force, such as Law 17,577 of 2021 , which establishes the Requalifica Centro Program, the program also includes practical actions, such as improving lighting in the city's Historic Center. With the installation of more efficient lighting fixtures and LED technology, lighting will be improved by up to 40% per square meter, making the streets safer and more welcoming for residents and visitors.

The ultimate goal of the #TodosPeloCentro program is to transform downtown São Paulo into a place to stay, where people can live, work, have fun and feel part of a vibrant and diverse community.

Through coordinated efforts and the support of civil society, the City of São Paulo is committed to revitalizing the beating heart of the city, preserving its history and culture while preparing it for the future. This is a commitment to sustainable and inclusive development, ensuring that the Center remains the vital hub of São Paulo for many years to come.
